Satyaprakash'S POV

Great salute and Tribute to Om puri saheb

This is the heart-wrenching news for me to hear our veteran actor’s departure from this world. This actor’s loss means much to me because he remained a versatile actors, good human-being and multi-cultural. Simpleton face and body has fascinated world Cinema. He acted in foreign films.

His recent movie was “The Hundred-Foot Journey “produced by Steven Spielberg.

New wave Cinema, parallel cinema, art movie, Indie movie had greatly positioned Om Puri Saheb. His acting forte lured directors of main-stream –cinema (Commercial Films) that Om Puri Saheb delivered a magical acting. Bollywood producers and directors used to take Om Puri Saheb in the film for global business because of his American, British and other film’s exposure.

Indian and world Cinema both had lost their fabulous actor. Om Puri sahib acted in various Indian lingual-cinema of India along with Bollywood. The great artistic voyage from Haryana to Indian Cinema to World Cinema, achieving various accolades worldwide.

Om Puri sir remained an honest and dedicated human-being with clear opinion on certain issues that influence each citizen.Because of clear stand, he was vehemently attacked and assaulted with filthy words not with language of criticism that had wrenched his heart. He decomposed from composure and vice-versa. An artist keeps traveling from fade-in to fade-out or from fade-out to fade-in.

Government of India had offered accolade like “Padm shree” in 1990.

Film “ARDHYSATY” will surprise you when you see the intense and agonized Police Inspector who is none other than Om Puri Saheb who is protagonist in the film (1980). Film “AAKROSH” presents Om Puri as a traumatized poor husband and brother of a young sister. As a hero of the film, he maintained his silence under tense trauma except two scenes.

Who can forget the revolutionary Old security guard Abu Mia of a spice factory where village women are garrisoned by a single guard man in film “MIRCH MASALA” under British rule of India?

His contribution to World Cinema and Indian Cinema has been awesome and mind blowing. Cine-lovers will be remembering , loving and learning from him, his acting character and his real character where remained simpleton human-being.

Tribute to Om Puri
