In search of a character in West Bengal for film
"Thinking of Him"
Soumyadip Sarkar is a student artist belonging to Shantiniketan,Bolpur Kolkata. He is a very good actor,singer and good human being. Sudden selection of an important character called Abhik who inspires Felix to introduce an elephant,philosophizing. we,elephant and each element belong to Universe.So, no need to have fear with elephant and anything of universe.Being there in universe has great logic to balance the components of Universe.
Abhik is an instrumental character who frees Felix from his guilt.
I remained worried of selecting this character during shooting of our film "THINKING OF HIM" in Shantiniketan. Few students gathered to see our shooting on the roadside in Campus. Cut of the shot increases my tension because director Pablo Cesar has upset me to choose a guy for this character who does not have acting experience and he can not speak English.The sound of cut moves me in other direction and my eyes began to glisten. A young boy of age 14-15 years is standing among many boys and girl students,looking at our shooting.I screamed like a victorious man and all startled to see me as if they were asking as to what happened. Are you fine ?
Pablo Cesar feels uneasy but I did not care and I called the boy from standing crowd of students.She was awe-stunned as to why he was being called. Some sort of worries faltered his advancement towards me.My eyes are so involved and my olfactory and acoustic sensory are unidirectional to him.He came and without asking anything,I called Mr.Pablo Cesar, asking him as to how this boy would be in the role of Abhik. Mr.Pablo Cesar jumped like anything.
We had called this boy .He had come with his father at our receptional hall of Bengal Tiger Hotel,Bolpur, West Bengal.His name is Soumyadip Sarkar but he is very popular student because of hissinging and acting talent in Shantiniketan.So he has another nick name Tatai Sarkar.
Soumodeep Sarkar is a superb class of acting and he has delivered very good. His interaction with co-actor Hector Bordono who is suffering from a confusion and guilt is really utmost upbeat.
Soumodeep was picked up for the character of Abhik for the film "THINKING OF HIM" and he sang the song for this film too.
For the first time, he traveled in Airoplane from Kolkata to New Delhi for a small shoot in dense forest of Yamuna. The matching of jungle of Bolpur, nearer to Shantiniketan was stunningly proximate to that of selected jungle of Yamuna.
The Elephant is a living animal character of the film.Without elephant, guilt of Felix being played by Hector Bordoni of Argentina can not be shrugged off , can not be got rid off. Buts have irked us much because we were not getting elephant in the region of Kolkata or anywhere in West Bengal.At last, we got elephant in New Delhi.We carved a small unit out of 140 crew unit.I flew with Soumodeep Sarkar,Argentinean team, Camera and sound unit for New Delhi.
We shot interaction among Abhik,Felix and elephant in three cutaway scenes in this jungle.
Like other characters I had tiring but good experience for the film.I will come to you with those experiences.
